The work plods on. We still have a ton of things to do in a short amount of time. Still, some things take precedent. Yesterday Emily’s mom got remarried in Pekin, IL. We’re spending the weekend in central Illinois for the big multi-family reunion thing. Mark (her new husband) has a huge Italian Catholic family. Em’s Mom, Chris, has 4 brothers and sisters plus their significant others and kids. Last night was the wedding and a dinner. Tonight is the reception. Tomorrow is a big brunch, bbq thing.
Here’s what we gifted the happy couple. I haven’t written yet about our countertops getting installed, but we ended up having several large sections of birch wood butcherblock from cutting around the chimney and appliances. We took a bit of this countertop and lovingly hand-made a wedding gift. This was my first routing project after the countertops and the first time I’ve used a pludge router. We sanded it, oiled it, and wood burned the back.
Lastly, congrats to everyone finishing up school and graduating right now. A special nod to our friend Steve who has been a big help to the project and collects his MA tonight.
